Can he do it?

Can he do it?

Double Olympic Gold Medalist, James Cracknell is making his way from the UK to Africa powered by his body strength alone – and he wants to do it in the fastest time possible. The aim, other than reaching Africa in one piece, is to raise as much money as possible for Sport Relief!

The challenge involves rowing across the English Channel, cycling more than 1,395 miles through France and Spain and then swimming the treacherous Strait of Gibraltar. He'll be stopping for just four hours in every 24 throughout the whole attempt.

To get to Africa against the clock, James will be putting his body through hell! He'll burn approximately 55,000 calories throughout the trip, secrete up to 10 litres of sweat per day and have to drink up to 12 litres of water each day to compensate!

It's going to be incredibly hard for James to stay motivated but there are two things that will most certainly help...

His first big motivator comes in the guise of Little Britain's David Walliams who famously swam the English Channel in just ten and a half hours for Sport Relief in 2006. He's now putting all he learnt to the test again by joining James on the final leg of his incredible Cross-Continent Challenge.

The second huge motivator for James is you! James really needs all the support he can get – after all, there's only one reason why he's putting himself through this mammoth challenge and that's to raise cash for Sport Relief.

By sponsoring him, you'll be making it all worth his while and, throughout the challenge, James will be regularly updated on how much he's raised to keep him going through the really tough moments.
